Groundsman / Maintenance Operative

Location: South Normanton Parish Council

Salary: £23,500 pa, (£12.21 per hour)

You will also be entered into the Local Government Pension Scheme.

Full time/Permanent

Working hours:
1st April to 30th September Monday – Thursday 7am-4pm, Friday – 7am-2.30pm
1st October to 31st March Monday – Thursday 7.30am-3pm, Friday – Non working day

South Normanton Parish Council have a vacancy for a Groundsman/Maintenance operative.
We are located just off the M1, junction 28

You will be responsible for, but not limited to the following;

  • Purchasing and planting of floral displays within the Parish.
  • Maintaining the floral displays all year round.
  • You will be expected to bring new ideas to the team regarding floral displays.
  • Regular pruning of trees and hedges.
  • Grass cutting.
  • Fuelling and cleaning of maintenance equipment.
  • Maintenance of hard standing areas.
  • Emptying general waste bins and dog foul bins.
  • Stocking up/delivering salt grit in the winter months.
  • Litter picking of play parks, general areas, football pitches, cemetery.
  • General maintenance around the Parish including the new part of the cemetery.
  • Regular play park inspections.
  • Monthly noticeboard updating.
  • Key holder duties including opening of gates/buildings for contractors and the public.

On occasions you may be required to carry out other duties that are not listed above.
Previous experience in gardening and maintenance is essential.
Horticultural qualifications desirable.
Full UK driving licence is essential.
