Stay safe in the heat

We don’t need to tell you how hot the weather is right now, but we do have some advice about staying safe during extreme heat.

Make sure you, your family and friends are aware of the information that’s available to keep you safe, such as:

  • Drink plenty of water.
  • Avoid being out in the sun when it’s at its hottest, usually between 11am and 3pm.
  • Regularly apply sunscreen, factor 30+.
  • Wear lightweight clothing, a hat and UV sunglasses.
  • Never leave children or animals in a closed vehicle.

One of the most important pieces of advice is to be aware of the dangers of open water. It’s so tempting – it looks cool and refreshing. But it could endanger your life.
